CO-MOVE

2026-04-30

CO-MOVE (project number: CE0301121) addresses the mobility challenges of rural and peripheral areas in Central Europe, where scattered settlements, low population density, and ageing populations make traditional public transport systems less viable and accessible. These conditions contribute to limited connectivity, transport poverty, and unequal access to essential services, hindering sustainable development and social inclusion.

The project focuses on three target regions – Alpago-Zoldo (Italy), Heart of Slovenia (Slovenia), and Nyíregyháza (Hungary) – which all face challenges such as depopulation, limited access to services of general interest, and weak public transport connectivity, particularly in rural and internally peripheral areas.

CO-MOVE aims to develop and test community-based mobility solutions, including social carpooling, demand-responsive transport, and peer-to-peer shared mobility services. These solutions will complement existing public transport networks, improving accessibility and creating new mobility opportunities, with special attention to vulnerable groups.

Through co-design with stakeholders and citizens, the project ensures that solutions are practical, inclusive, and sustainable. Action plans in the pilot areas will also explore the integration of innovative mobility concepts such as Mobility as a Service, autonomous vehicles, and data-driven transport planning, supporting long-term system transformation.

The project is financed by the Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE programme.
